A few months ago i spent a weekend in Copenhagen. I was lucky enough to find a small little drinks shop where i sampled Hancock Sports Cola for the first time. This drink tastes superb! Soon after arriving back in Berlin the cravings started. But no worries… the internet provides for every need right? Well not Hancock Sports Cola. After spending hours trying to hunt down a bottle, Willem Von Tinkel (from the Hipstery (a joint project of mine)) came up with the idea of asking our community (via Facebook) if anyone could supply us with some bottles. It turns out that Mads, a customer of the Hipstery (from Denmark) was taking a road trip via Hamburg and Berlin to Prague (in search of some rare cigarettes). Mads was kind enough to reserve some road trip space in the boat of the car for my Hancock Sports Cola. Thank you Mads.

The last few months have been jam packed. Ive been in Stockholm, London, Copenhagen, Munich, and Berlin (where i live). Ive been on conference calls with brokers, lawyers, tax advisors and potential buyers from half way round the world. Ive sold Spendless and i am close to launching some great joint projects in the upcoming weeks. And in the midst of all that the blog has been somewhat forgotten. I am hoping to write a review of how the Spendless sale went (depending on the buyer), a review (or at least brief round up) of the A4u in Munich, an article on designing websites on a budget and some notes on my upcoming projects. The first new project started a couple of days ago.

Wisdom of Fans: http://wisdom-of-fans.com

The site aims to predict the outcome of events (starting with the World Cup) based on the input of many. Wisdom of Fans collects peoples tweets about various events and then converts them into one “mass” prediction. The idea is that the many can be more accurate that the one (i.e. football pundits).

As an affiliate who likes to travel i have become a big fan of netbooks. For my 8 month, round the world trip i took the ASUS EEE as it weighs less than a kilo, is nice and robust and was powerfull enough to run all the programs i required to work on my websites. But now it is time to move on. In the next couple of weeks i will hopefully be getting a shared office here in Berlin and so i need a more powerful notebook. Up steps the <del datetime="2010-03-29T10:54:21+00:00">Ferrari</del> Hipstery Acer One. Ignoring the branding this laptop has some very nice stats. 2 gigs of ram, 11.6 inch screen and a very decent keyboard make this netbook the perfect travelling affiliates companion. Ideal for my upcoming trips to Stockholm, Munich and London.

Searching for the perfect Christmas present is never easy. Especially when you want to combine it with your photos from a recent trip/event. In total i uploaded over 1500 photos from our round the world trip to flickr and was searching for a great present to combine them all. Then up stepped Zumyn.

This great little site will turn your photos into a stunning mosaic. The 2 main advantages of the site are that it automatically pulls all your photos from Flickr for you, so no tedious uploads. And secondly you get to determine how many times each photo is used (i went for twice to get a better overall clarity of photo). Other companies that i found will use the same photo up to 10 times in your mosaic which i find really takes away from the overall effect.

Here is my now framed attempt.

Zumyns quality and service both come highly recommended!

Iguazu Falls part 2 – I think this part was called the devils throat. We were stood on the Argentine side looking into Brazil.

Franz Jospeh Glacier – One of our best trips on the whole travels was the Franz Jospeh Glacier. Whilst some of our photos were great (even if i do say so myself) they dont give a great overview of the glacier as a whole. Neither does this video… but at least it goes a little way.

OK, this one is a little blurry, but seeing monkeys in the wild was very cool! Cute they were not (check out the teeth!). This was taken in Ubud, Bali.

A puppet show in Solo, Indonesia. It cost us 20p to get in, and the show apparently goes on deep into the night. We lasted about an hour, but got a bit lost in the large sections of Indo dialogue.

This video was taken on a bike trip around Solo. We were taken into a Gamelan (musical instruments) making “factory”.

As some of you know, one of the niches i like to dabble in is Experience Days. There are some really great sites out there, and one of the best ways to get across the message of how exciting an experience is via the medium of photos. Now you would think that companies providing experience day gifts would have plenty of their own photos to show how great the experience is right? Well imagine my surprise when i was asked to promote the new Exhilaration program and i saw this…

Cant see it? How about here? Notice the watermark?

I guess Exhilaration were in a bit too much of a rush to get their new front page online!

Oops.

Thanks to Neil for the spot.

Last night, Friedi took me to NOCTI VAGUS (in Berlin) as part of my birthday present. Now, going to a restaurant for your birthday might not sound like the most blogworthy material, but at NOCTI VAGUS you eat in the dark! Not the sort of dark where your eyes grow accustomed to the light after a few minutes, i mean complete and utter total pitch black darkness! My eyes were wide open the entire time, and i couldn’t see a thing. Not even the vague hint of an outline of things that you normally start to see after entering a “dark” room and your eyes get accustomed to the light. This led to a few difficulties, especially when Friedi, having sampled my chocolate pudding decided to leave my spoon at some unknown destination on the table!

For those interested in how the process actually works: You get to pick between one of 3 menus, or go for a “surprise” 4th option whilst sitting upstairs enjoying an aperitif (in the light). Once you have decided on your meal, you are led downstairs into a “midway” room with dim lighting. After a few basic instructions, the light goes out, your waiter takes your hand and then leads you to your table. Apparently they are guided by a series of carpets on the floor, and some kind of slightly raised marker system. Once seated, you get told where your cutlery and napkin is, and then the meal begins! Every starter is a soup, which feels horribly challenging at first, but is actually the easiest thing to eat in the dark. Especially when compared with trying to cut your vegetables in the total dark during the main course, or pouring your own wine! (there is noone telling you, potatoes at 4 O’clock, or some other useful system).

The whole experience was quite incredible. from being led to our table and served by our blind waiter, Isa, (all the waiters are blind or at most, have 6% vision) to “tasting” and i mean really tasting the food i was eating!

I would highly recommend it to anyone!
