***Happy New Year***
Having been inspired by Kierons, Jasons and Rays forward and backward looking blog posts i have decided it is a good idea to come up with a few goals of my own. 2009 was mostly spent on the road, so deep and meaning full goals were not really required. However, to make a success of 2010 i feel i really need some direction. So here goes…
One of the “limitations” of self employment is the lack of training or qualifications you would otherwise pick up in the “real world”. In my opinion you learn far more from running your own business than you ever can from working for someone else, but i would still like to have some qualifications i can add to my CV. So far i have the Microsoft and Google Adwords exams under my belt, but want to take on the rumored new upcoming Google test as well as passing some German exams or maybe even taking on an MBA. So nothing definitive yet, but at the end of the year i would like to have a few more qualifications on the list.

I have now been running my affiliate sites for over 3 years and the aim for this year is to keep the growth going via innovation or investment web design or functionality. When i started the sites i had a budget of zero, so all growth had to be organic. Now i feel i can enter a new market or area with a bit of a budget which should help me hit the ground running. Whilst it sounds simple, i think it will take a leap of faith to put the money up front for a new project as opposed to my “risk free” previous projects.

So far i have been pretty bad about considering how to make money work for me. For the last few years anything left over after reinvestment into the sites has gone on travelling or general living costs. I now want to learn how to invest some money, whether it be housing, stocks, currency trading or something totally new i havnt considered yet.
