Darwin
We really enjoyed our 5 days in Darwin. Mindil Beach Market was a great place to grab a bite to eat and then head over the sand dunes to watch the sun set. We also took a great 1 day tour to the Litchfield National Park. Here we took a river trip where crocodiles up to 5.5m (some with only 1 leg left!!) jumped right out of the water to grab at the pieces of meat. Apparently they do this naturally in the wild. We also saw some incredibly big termite mounds. These things were huge, with apparently up to 5 million termites living in them. Finally we got taken to 3 water holes, each with their own waterfalls where we got to take a swim. I was slightly apprehensive having just watched the large crocs just a few miles away.
Overall we really enjoyed Australia. Just looking back over the various photo sets shows how much new and amazing wildlife we got to see, from crocs to koalas and platypus to sharks!
