Auckland

So having survived our 13 and a half hour flight from Buenos Aires we arrived in Auckland somewhat unrefreshed early Sunday morning. Sunday was spent marvelling at how clean a city can be, how one can drink water from the tap, flush toilet paper down the loo, walk 2 minutes down the street and not be be hooted at by a taxi or approached by numerous tour guides! Since then we have spent the days just wandering around the city and taking ferry’s out to some of the islands/volcanoes. Whilst we are really enjoying the ease of travelling in a developed English speaking country, we are somehow lacking the constant feeling of adventure that South America brought!

Next up is a week long trip up north to the Bay of Islands and a Ninety Mile long beach. (Photos of our final days in Buenos Aires will follow in a blog post soon).

That all looks familiar. I know what you mean, it is hard to adjust to the real world again it was the same for us, at first I wanted to haggle for everything and we couldn’t get used to crossing the road “normal style” you know with the green man and stuff instead of just edging out and slowly tip toeing across SE Asian style.

Anyway I hope you have fun, NZ doesn’t have great cities, but I’m sure you’ll like the countryside, nature and beaches which are exceptional.

Although part of my hopes that you get horribly bored by NZ and OZ and come back and entertain me here in Leipzig, I’d even prepare you a welcome home meal of spaghetti and ketchup with a side crescent of crisps, still your favorite I hope?
