Travel Plans – Update

A short update on our 2009 travel plans:
1) The Inca Trail is booked thanks to Eco Trek Peru. We will start our 4 day trek on the 2nd of March (I am very excitied! But also slightly nervous…)
2) The Galapagos Trip – The boat that we decided on (there is soooo much choice!) hasn’t released it’s schedule for 2009 yet, so we are still waiting to confirm. Should be in the next few weeks.
3) Injections are nearly done. Even got a little German Injection Passport now, which proves that i have had the Yellowfever jab and can enter Peru. Still got one more Hep A+B jab in December to go.
4) Equipment - The main things; bag and shoes, were purchased at the massive Globetrotters in Berlin. This place is huuuuge. They even have a little pool if you want to test out canoes, a proper climbing wall, and 4 different surfaces to test your boots on! An overwhelming experience…
Still to do… Sort out visas for NZ, one last injection plus malaria tablets, find someone to rent our flat, and find somewhere to store our things while we are away, get travel insurance etc etc… But we still have a few months left before heading off.

Sounds good, all coming together then. Did you go for the front unzipping bag, like the macpac after all?
Good luck getting a NZ visa, very tricky to get, very tricky. I heard that only 6 of the 6 people that actually apply to visit NZ every year get in. Yes, it’s that tough. After all these immigrants might come in and take jobs away from hard working New Zealand sheep, just trying to get a little work growing wool to sell to support their families. Damn immigrants trying to fill our empty little island with their big city ideas of culture and progress.
In other news, New Zealanders begin work on construction of a “wicker man”, which will apparently be used in an elaborate ceremony to welcome the Englishman.
Hi there, skip the Malaria tablets – just a way to rip you off … if you fall sick, find a doctor or a shamen or a shaman or both
Any chance you could describe your pictures on flickr.com? Made them instantly a bazillion times more enjoyable!!!
Hi Guys,
@ Adam – Took your advice on the front zipping idea. It’s not a macpac, but it does allow you to zip up the straps on the back and carry it like a suitcase.
@ Annett – Descriptions are a nice idea. Possibly too much effort, but we will see
And thanks for th Shaman tip!
